What is the Pilates Method?
Pronounced 'Pi-Lah-Teez', the Pilates method is a unique system of strengthening and stretching exercises developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900's, utilising specialised equipment and mat exercises.
It is a full body-conditioning program that will improve flexibility, balance, coordination, increase total body strength, increase fitness, muscle tone and improve posture.
People of all shapes and sizes, regardless of age and fitness levels will benefit from Pilates. It is ideal for addressing musculoskeletal imbalances and for orthopaedic, sports or work injury rehabilitation.

Pregnancy
Anita specialises in prenatal and post-natal pregnancy classes for women. Pilates during and after pregnancy improves abdominal and pelvic floor control which will help during the pregnancy, labour and recovery afterwards. It is a non weight bearing exercise, which means no stress on the joints and the pelvic floor. Lifestyle Pilates will help you maintain overall strength during pregnancy, and help you get back to your regular weight afterwards.
Rebates for Private & Semi Private Sessions
Rebates on Pilates sessions are available to clients who
- belong to the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA)
- are under the Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC) through Medicare
- have private health insurance
These rebates are only available when sessions are scheduled outside of normal session times with one of our Exercise Physiologists. Workers Compensation is also catered for.
About Us
Anita Delbridge Goswell - B.Ed (PDHPE), Grad. Dip Ex Sci (Rehab), Accredited Exercise Physiologist (ESSA), L4 Pilates Practioner (APMA)
Anita is an accredited Exercise Physiologist with the Exercise and Sports Science Association (ESSA ). She completed her Graduate Certificate in Exercise Science (Rehabilitation) at Charles Sturt University in 2009 and her Bachelor of Education (PDHPE ) at the University of Newcastle in 1995. She has lectured at the NSW TAFE in the Health and Recreation Department since graduating, and has been in the fitness industry since 1990, specialising in programming for general fitness, strength, rehabilitation and weight loss. Her area of interest is women’s health, including exercise prescription for pre and post natal and menopausal women. Anita is also a Level 4 Pilates Practitioner with the Australian Pilates Method Association (APMA), having completed her Graduate Certificate in the Pilates Method at the University of Technology in Sydney 2002. She is also the Director of Lifestyle Pilates and Rehabilitation Studio.

Mark Goswell - B.Soc.Sci (Human Movement), Grad.Dip.Ed (PDHPE), Pilates Rehabilitation Practitioner (Polestar International), Certificate IV in Workplace and Training, Accredited Exercise Physiologist, Registered member of ESSA
Mark has completed his Bachelor of Exercise Science in 1997 and has been an ESSA accredited Exercise Physiologist, since 2000. He is the Director of Proactive Rehabilitation & Health and has had extensive experience in the management and treatment of clients with all ranges of injuries and conditions. He specialises in the improvement of lumbar spine injuries, shoulder, knee, neural conditions, amputations, post traumatic stress disorder (PTS D) and anxiety and depression. Mark is an accredited Pilates Rehabilitation Practitioner, through Polestar International, with specialised experience in the development and improvement of core stability and functional movement. Mark has a passion for assisting people improve their quality of life by following simple guidelines (and exercises) that enhance movement and therefore improve pain management. This leads to an improved quality of life and the realisation that you can control injuries, and not having your injuries control you. |
