"Physical fitness can neither be achieved
by wishful thinking nor outright purchase"

- Joseph Pilates

What is the Pilates Method?

Pronounced 'Pi-Lah-Teez', the Pilates method is a unique system of strengthening and stretching exercises developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900's, utilising specialised equipment and mat exercises.

It is a full body-conditioning program that will improve flexibility, balance, coordination, increase total body strength, increase fitness, muscle tone and improve posture.

People of all shapes and sizes, regardless of age and fitness levels will benefit from Pilates. It is ideal for addressing musculoskeletal imbalances and for orthopaedic, sports or work injury rehabilitation.

Pilates is the foundation for efficient movement

The Benefits

  • Core stability - Pilates works the deep stabilising muscles of the body to create a strong core, giving the body a stable foundation to execute all other movment.
  • Increased flexibility, strength, coordination and balance
  • Increased body awareness and improved posture
  • Development of long, lean muscle and muscle tone
  • Awareness of efficient, controlled postural movement, working from a 'centre' of strength created by stabilising the lumber spine, pelvis and scapular
  • Reduce chronic back, neck, shoulder and knee pain
  • Improved functional capacity following injury and more rapid return to pre-injury or pre-surgery status
  • Improved sports performance
  • Beneficial for both prenatal and post-natal women

"Pilates develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures,
restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit
"
- Joseph Pilates
